Samuel scored twice for Victory to beat AYL
Male’, MALDIVES – Two goals from Samuel helped Victory to beat AYL in ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League. Samuel scored in either half of the game and despite some good possession, AYL failed to trouble Victory.

Victory took the lead in the 18th minute when Samuel tapped home Niyaz’s cross to beat keeper Arushan.

In the 31st minute Samuel headed Issey’s cross but failed to find the target and then Niyaz passed the loose ball to Oppo, whose shot was well saved by keeper Arushan.

In the next minute Niyaz saw his powerful effort denied by the goal post.

Victory doubled the lead in the 55th minute, this time again Niyaz provided the cross for Samuel to head from close range.

Niyaz, who had an impressive game, got a golden chance to appear on the score sheet but after beating the defender he shot the ball just wide off the target.

Oppo had a poor game compared to Niyaz, Bakaa and Samuel, but as usual he was declared as the man of the match.

After the game Victory coach Ali Suzain said he is happy with the result and noted the contribution of Bakaa.

“I am happy with the result, we had a slow game in the later stage. It is good that our players are in good form and I am happy with Bakaa’s contribution”

Mukhthaar Naseer (2Kilo) came in the second half and Suzain said the player was given a break.

AYL coach Athif said his players are correcting the mistakes and the team is improving.

“The players corrected the mistakes they made in the previous game and showed a good performance”

“Team is improving and I am hopeful of the foreign player”
